Lara Fernández Ponce - viola
Lara Fernández Ponce is the violist of the Cosmos Quartet and since 2018 has been a professor of viola and chamber music at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón (CSMA).
Together with her quartet, she has won numerous awards in international competitions such as the Irene Steels Heidelberg International Chamber Music Competition, the BBVA Chamber Music Prize Montserrat Alavedra, Joseph Joachim Chamber Music Competition in Weimar, and the Carl Nielsen
International Chamber Music Competition in Copenhagen. Their first two CDs, "Influences I and II," have received excellent reviews, and they enjoy a successful concert career. Currently, they are the resident group at the Palau de la Música Catalana.
Born in Soria, she began her viola studies with teachers such as Jensen Horn Sin Lam and Elena Pochekina in Madrid. She continued her studies at CSMA with Avri Levitan, Cuarteto Quiroga, and Kennedy Moretti. She pursued her Master's studies at the Hochschule fur Musik "Hanns-Eisler" in Berlin with Volker Sprenger and Eberhard Feltz, and subsequently completed a chamber music master's degree at the Hochschule fur Musik in Hannover with her Cosmos Quartet colleagues under Prof. Oliver Wille (Kuss Quartet).They have also been part of the ECMA (European Chamber Music Academy) and the international social project "Musethica."
As a soloist, she has performed works by composers such as Bach, Telemann, Bruch, Vivaldi, and Walton and Bartók, among others.
She plays a viola by David Bagué (2019).
