José Luis Estellés - clarinete

José Luis Estellés carries out an extensive artistic activity internationally in which he combines the facets of orchestral conductor, clarinettist and teacher on a rare equal strength.

 

José Luis Estellés has performed as a guest soloist with more than thirty orchestras and ensembles, and also as a chamber musician in important halls and festivals in the USA, Mexico, Japan and throughout Europe with prestigious quartets and soloists. He was founder of ensembles such as Grupo Manon and TAiMAgranada. His CD recordings as a clarinettist have been released on Turtle Records, Emergo Classics, Audiovisuals de Sarriá, Anacrusi, Verso, Kairos, Naxos, Komponisten Polyphonie and Ibs Classical, winning numerous awards in specialized magazines.

 

As a conductor he has performed in numerous concerts in Spain, Germany, Belgium, France, England, Bulgaria and Mexico and has recorded for the Musikene, Verso and Ibs Classical labels.

 

As an orchestral musician, he was clarinet soloist with the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada from 1991 to 2021 and has also collaborated regularly with other ensembles in Spain, England, Belgium and Germany.

 

José Luis Estellés has taught clarinet at Musikene since its creation in 2001, where he was also its Artistic Director and Director of Orchestral Studies. Since 2021 he has been Professor of Chamber Music at the HfMT in Cologne (Germany). Other institutions with which he has been associated as a teacher are the Sibelius Academy (Finland), Codarts - Rotterdam Conservatorium (The Netherlands), the University of Alcalá de Henares and the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Oviedo, as well as giving masterclasses all over the world. He is invited as a jury member in important international competitions, such as ARD (Munich) and Aeolus (Dusseldorf).
